Caroline Dubois’ Olympic dream over as young Team GB boxing star is beaten in quarter-finals

EMOTIONAL Caroline Dubois was inconsolable as she was defeated in the Tokyo Olympics quarter-finals.

The 20-year-old fighter from London – the younger sister of heavyweight boxer Daniel -- was beaten on a split decision by Thailand’s Sudaporn Seesondee.

By losing in the last eight of the women’s lightweight divisions, it means she will not win a medal at her first Olympics.

Dubois was losing 3-2 after the first round but it was all level heading into the third and final round.

Yet the Thai fighter, nine years Dubois’s senior and with four world championship appearances on her CV, showed her experience and guile to move into the semi-finals.

Dubois refused to talk immediately afterwards, falling to her hunches and breaking down in tears in the mixed zone before being taken backstage.
