PPG Paints Arena Recommending Masks Inside

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - PPG Paints Arena is recommending masks for everyone inside, starting with tonight's James Taylor concert.

Out of an abundance of caution, PPG Paints Arena is following the CDC's guidelines and recommending everyone mask up indoors since Allegheny County has a "substantial" level of COVID-19 spread.

The Penguins say arena officials will keep working with UPMC and the state Health Department to follow public health guidelines.

Other safety precautions like paperless ticketing and cashless transactions are still in place.

The news came Tuesday when the area hosted a crowd for the concert. Although some people are not fans of face coverings, they said each place has its own rules, so it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

"It makes sense to have it and then hopefully use it where it's deemed appropriate," said John Williamson.

"We went through this last year. I just don't want to see it turn into what it was last year," said Albert Klamers. "I think we should wear them to protect yourself and others even if you have the vaccine."
