All Spirit Airlines flights in and out of Tampa International Airport were canceled on Monday, part of a wide-ranging network disruption the carrier has blamed on “operational challenges.”

Airport spokesperson Emily Nipps said that after a number of cancellations over the weekend, all inbound and outbound Spirit flights on Monday were off. They include flights to and from Chicago, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Cleveland and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

“All of our Spirit flights have been canceled out of Tampa,” she said.

Orlando International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are among the other hubs experiencing widespread Spirit disruptions.

More than 271 Spirit flights nationwide have been canceled on Monday, with another 159 listed as delayed, according to flight tracking service FlightAware.com. That’s on top of 165 cancellations and 341 delays on Sunday.

“We’re working around the clock to get back on track in the wake of some travel disruptions over the weekend due to a series of weather and operational challenges,” Spirit spokesperson Field Sutton said in an emailed statement. “We needed to make proactive cancellations to some flights across the network, but the majority of flights are still scheduled as planned.”

In the near term, Spirit is instructing passengers to check their email and flight status. Nipps said the airport expects some Spirit flights to resume on Tuesday, though likely on a different schedule.

“If you’re flying for the next couple of days at least, check with Spirit if you’re coming to the airport,” she said.
