Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Micah May died as a result of last week's incident.

Police say 60-year-old Douglas Joseph Claiborne reportedly stole a vehicle and then led law enforcement on a chase that started near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and ended on I-15 near Sahara Avenue.

Police say one Nevada Highway Patrol trooper and 3 probation officers shot at Claiborne after officers say they saw the suspect trying to grab Trooper May's gun from his holster.

They say Claiborne was also armed with a kitchen knife.

Claiborne reportedly hit the NHP trooper who was lying stop-sticks on the interstate.
