NEW YORK – Kumar Rocker will not be heading to Queens after all.

The New York Mets did not sign the 10th overall pick and right-hander before Sunday's 5 p.m. ET signing deadline.

The Mets and Rocker reportedly had an agreement in place for $6 million, but the deal fell apart after a physical examination. Instead, the Mets will receive the 11th overall pick in the 2022 draft as compensation.

“This is clearly not the outcome we had hoped for and wish Kumar nothing but success moving forward,” general manager Zack Scott said in a statement. “We’re excited about the players we have signed and look forward to watching them develop and contribute to the organization in the years to come.”

Rocker's agent, Scott Boras, released a statement on Sunday to say that his client is healthy. Boras said the star pitcher had an MRI on his shoulder and elbow after the college baseball season and it showed "no significant change" from 2018 test results.

"Kumar Rocker is healthy according to independent medical review by multiple prominent baseball orthopedic surgeons," Boras said. "Kumar requires no medical attention and will continue to pitch in the regular course as he prepares to begin his professional career."

Rocker, 21, went 14-4 this season at Vanderbilt with a 2.73 ERA and 179 strikeouts over 122 innings.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, Rocker will forgo his senior year at Vanderbilt and begin his pro career. Rocker will be eligible for the 2022 draft.

The Mets signed their other 19 draftees, including second-round pitcher Calvin Ziegler and third-round pitcher Dominic Hamel.
