CHARLOTTE — This was the first weekend in North Carolina that people haven’t been under a mask mandate.
The statewide mandate expired on Friday, but in practical terms, it’s been over for months. In the NoDa area of Charlotte, Channel 9′s Glenn Counts saw very few masks and little-to-no social distancing.
Business owners there are left wondering if they will have to reimpose their own restrictions due to COVID-19 cases rising across the county.

“It is a lot to think about, but I’m thinking about it just because of the delta virus. I’m just really worried,” said Teresa Hernandez, owner of Pura Vida gift shop.
