Former Florida pitcher Kirby Snead became the 25th player under current coach Kevin O’Sullivan to make it to the big leagues. He was called up to the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday and made his first appearance that same night in Boston. He completed 2/3 of an inning without allowing a baserunner versus the Red Sox.

He entered the game against Boston in the fifth inning with the Bluejays trailing 4-1. With one out and runners on first and second, Snead used just three pitches to induce an inning-ending double play.

Snead also becomes the fifth player from Florida’s 2016 draft class to reach the MLB, following Pete Alonso, Shaun Anderson, Dane Dunning and A.J. Puk and the fourth Florida player to make his debut this season.

Looking back to his time in the orange and blue, he played three seasons with the Gators. He collected 111 1/3 innings pitched across 101 appearances, including one start. Snead finished with a 7-1 record, four saves, 2.75 ERA and 88 strikeouts.
