Aaron Rodgers: Returning to Packers is 'the best feeling'

It was a long offseason filled with drama for Aaron Rodgers. But after completing a revised contract, the star quarterback says he's happy to be back on the field with the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers told NFL Network's James Jones, per NFL.com's Nick Shook:

"It's the best feeling. It was a little strange, I think, Day 1 just because I was gone for the entire offseason and contemplated my own future and the possibility of playing somewhere else as well. But when I'm back here, I'm 100 percent all-in.

"You know me, you know what I'm all about. I love my teammates. I love competing. I do love practice. I love to go out and give it to the young corner when I can, get after these guys, talk a little smack, especially with a new D-coordinator in here, we've got to let him know how it goes around here. It's good to be back."

After Green Bay's first training-camp practice earlier this week, Rodgers confirmed that he considered retirement this offseason due to his situation with the Packers.

One of the conditions of Rodgers' return was trading for former Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb, who had spent the 2020 season with the Houston Texans. General manager Brian Gutekunst later admitted the move was "very important" to the reigning MVP.

In addition, Rodgers said he and Cobb "shed some tears" after finding out they would be reunited in 2021.

Rodgers' future in Green Bay beyond 2021 is uncertain, and he could very well leave the organization in 2022. For now, at least he's focused on the season ahead and getting the Packers back to the postseason.
