DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach man is now out of the Palm Beach County Jail on his own recognizance after the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office charged him with kidnap/false imprisonment, and aggravated assault. Patrick Conway, 71, of Isles Cay Drive, allegedly held his wife at knifepoint with a butcher’s knife.

This is the narrative written by the arresting Deputy. We have redacted the victim’s name and edited the report for clarity:

”On 07/29/21, at approximately 1808 hours, I was dispatched to Isles Cay Dr, located in unincorporated Delray Beach, FL, in Palm Beach County, in reference to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (domestic related.) Upon arrival, I met with the victim identified as, [BNN redacted], who stated the following; [Victim] stated on today’s date she and her husband identified as Patrick Conway, got into a verbal dispute. [Victim] stated Patrick was verbally abusing her throughout the entire day. [Victim] reported at approximately 1800 hours, she locked herself in a room to avoid any further conflict. [Victim] stated she waited a few minutes until Patrick seemed to calm down. [Victim] stated afterwards she exited to make dinner and diffuse the situation, at which point Patrick became aggravated again and began to yell obscenities at her.

[Victim] stated she was inside the kitchen area were Patrick was yelling at her, and she asked him to stop or she was going to call the Police. [Victim] stated this aggravated Patrick to the point, that he grabbed a butcher knife and cornered her inside the kitchen. [Victim] stated Patrick held her at knife point for approximately 15 minutes.

[Victim] reported she feared for her life, and was unable to retreat or leave the area, fearing Patrick would cause harm to her. [Victim] stated Patrick was making physical motions with the butcher knife at her person this time.

Based on my investigation I find probable cause, for the arrest of Patrick for the violation of F.S.S 784.021 (1) (b) aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and F.S.S 787.02 (2) false imprisonment. Patrick was taken into custody, handcuffed, double locked, and checked for proper fit. Patrick was transferred to Palm Beach County transport unit, and taken to the Main County Jail. This report is cleared by an arrest.”

Conway was booked into jail late Thursday night. He was released on his own recognizance late Friday.
