Wisconsin family reunited with dog lost for nearly 2 years after recognizing pup on TV news
Marina PitofskyA Wisconsin family was reunited with their dog – who was lost for nearly two years –after recognizing the beloved pup on a TV news segment.
The Wisconsin Humane Society shared on Facebook this week that a man was awoken to the group's “Adopt-a-Pet" segment on FOX6 News in Milwaukee. The man was only identified by his first name, Dwight, in the post and in multiple reports.
The segment featured a brown dog “with the most adorable underbite,” according to the Facebook post. Dwight said that it “only took one glance at the picture” for him to immediately recognize his family’s dog, named Payday, who went missing nearly two years ago.
“Dwight normally turns off his TV every night, but must have left it on by accident – or perhaps thanks to fate,” the Wisconsin Humane Society shared on Facebook.
Dwight then contacted the news station, and they connected him with the animal group.

The Wisconsin Humane Society shared a video of Dwight’s mother, Melissa, reuniting with Payday Wednesday afternoon. She can be heard calling the dog “my baby” in the video as the pup wiggles and licks her.
“Payday was originally brought home as a companion for Dwight’s now 12-year-old daughter, who was still distraught over the incredible loss of her best friend,” the Wisconsin Humane Society also shared in the post.
“We are beyond ecstatic for this amazing family to finally be whole again,” they added.
