Tornadoes touched down in Fayette, Westmoreland, Indiana counties

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — At least two tornadoes touched down in our area Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

The NWS sent a team to Fayette and Westmoreland counties and determined that a tornado did touch down.

Their preliminary rating is a EF1, which indicates winds from 100 to 105 MPH.

A tornado also touched down in Indiana County, according to the NWS.

The team doesn’t know that rating of that tornado, because they haven’t toured the site yet. However, they were able to confirm a tornado by video evidence.
