After learning new terminology to embrace her daughter, she recently revealed the journey has not been an easy one for her or Ruby.

In a 2021 PEOPLE interview alongside her mom, the 26-year-old video game editor said it was scary to tell her parents about her gender identity.

However, Ruby explained, "They had been so accepting of me my entire life."

With her family's acceptance, Ruby stated she was happy to share her journey for the first time with the public.

"Like, people will still remember me for who I was, but I haven't changed that. They finally get to see who I've always been, you know, inside, but now I finally get to show it on the outside," she told the outlet.

What has Jamie Lee Curtis said about her child's transition?

Jamie Lee, 63, told AARP last year that she "watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby."

She also told PEOPLE that she is trying to "avoid making big mistakes."

However, she confessed that she is still learning every day and has credited Ruby for teaching her what she knows.

On October 10, 2022, Jamie Lee opened up about the struggles her daughter and other members of the transgender community face in an interview with Spanish publication Cadena SER.

“There are real threats,” she told the outlet. “I have a trans daughter. There are threats against her life, just her existence as a human being. There are people that want to annihilate her, and people like her.”

She explained that the reactions viewers see in her movies are "real" as her "sensitivity allows her to draw on real-world problems and dangers that are facing our society today," according to NBC News.

Ruby married her fiancée Kynthia in a World of Warcraft-themed wedding held in the family's backyard on May 29, 2022.

Jamie Lee presided over the nuptials.

All guests were invited to wear costumes to the event, and Jamie Lee dressed as Jaina Proudmoore, who is an admiral in the game.

Curtis told Jimmy Kimmel on his late show: “It’s really exciting."

"We’re going to have a beautiful picnic in the backyard.

"I’m really excited both of my children will have been married in my backyard, which brings me to tears.”

Ruby's older sister Annie also got married in the family's backyard in July 2019.
