Pa. health officials report nearly all COVID-19 hospitalizations, deaths in unvaccinated people

PITTSBURGH — State health officials reported Thursday that nearly all of the hospitalizations and deaths in Pennsylvania related to COVID-19 have been in unvaccinated people.

According to our partners at TribLive.com, 97% of hospitalizations across the state are unvaccinated people. 99% of deaths happening now are unvaccinated people, said Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam.

“Let me be clear: A statewide masking mandate is not currently under contemplation for Pennsylvania,” Beam said during a news conference Thursday. “At this stage, these deaths are preventable.”
