1 killed in crash near intersection of Vollmer Road in Black Forest

BLACK FOREST, Colo. (KRDO) -- A serious crash involving a truck and a pickup truck blocked an intersection of Vollmer Road in Black Forest Thursday afternoon, and Colorado State Patrol says one person died.

Colorado State Patrol confirmed the crash happened around 1:08 p.m. near Vollmer and Burgess roads.

According to CSP, a silver Ford F150 pickup truck was traveling westbound on Burgess Road. The Ford ran a stop sign and was struck on the right side by a green Freightliner traveling southbound on Vollmer.

Multiple ambulances and at least one medical helicopter were called to the scene immediately following the crash.

CSP says a woman in the front seat of the Ford died at the scene as a result of her injuries. An adult driver and two children in the backseat of the Ford were transported to local hospitals. According to CSP, they are expected to survive.

The occupants of the Freightliner were uninjured.

According to CSP, drugs, alcohol, and speed are not considered factors in the crash. At this time, CSP has yet to identify the victim.
