Jared Kushner to start investment firm: Report

.

Former President Donald Trump‘s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is planning to start an investment firm, sources said Wednesday — a decision that will move the former White House senior adviser away from the political realm.

Kushner has lived with his family in Florida for the past six months and is currently writing a book about his time in the White House, with publication expected early next year. At the same time, the former senior adviser has been working on the final stages of starting a firm called Affinity Partners, a person familiar with the plan told the Washington Examiner.

The source for Kushner’s plans spoke under the condition of anonymity and did not provide details about investors, though he said his firm would be headquartered in Miami.

Kushner aided the Trump administration with brokering deals between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco last year while also arranging a new U.S.-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement.

Now, the former president’s son-in-law is seeking to establish an Affinity Partners office in Israel to go after regional investments and connect Israel’s economy with India and North Africa, the source added.

Trump and Kushner remain in close contact, the source said, but his plans to delve back into the private sector mean he is moving away from politics for the time being.

Kushner, who is married to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, formerly served as the chief executive of real estate developer Kushner Companies before becoming a top White House adviser.

It is unclear what Kushner’s business plans may mean for Trump, who attracted scrutiny for declining to release his tax returns outlining financial dealings prior to his White House tenure.

Trump, who has frequently teased a 2024 bid, has reportedly made a decision about whether to seek a second term in office.
