Piers Morgan brutally roasted by CNN host over Simone Biles comments – and people loved it

CNN’s anchor Brianna Keilar didn’t hold back when she ripped into Piers Morgan on air following his harsh criticism of Olympian Simone Biles.

Biles opted out of certain Tokyo 2020 Olympic competitions after receiving an unusually poor result on her vault performance. The Olympian later admitted she had struggled with the expectations put on her.

Morgan then took to his 7.9 million Twitter followers in a bold statement that sarcastically questioned whether mental health issues were a valid excuse for poor performance in sport.

“Kids need strong role models not this nonsense”, he said. The tweet led up to a fully-fledged piece on the incident for the Daily Mail titled, “Sorry Simone Biles, but there’s nothing heroic or brave about quitting because you’re not having ‘fun’ – you let down your team-mates, your fans and your country”.

Keilar slammed the British host by saying his “only claim to fame is that he ran off the set of his former TV show, simply because another host questioned his criticism of Meghan Markle.”

In reference to his controversial tweet, the CNN host added:

“Yeah, maybe a role model like a 24-year-old who slays competition after competition and mentors the younger members of her team, who between the last Olympics and this one, came out as one of the more than 150 athletes who said publicly that they were sexually assaulted by former team doctor Larry Nassar, right under the nose of USA gymnastics.”

They then played a clip that showed the USA gymnastics team sharing their harrowing experiences of assault. Biles opened up about being sexually assaulted by Nassar; she said it forced her to sleep all of the time because it was “basically better than offing myself.”

Twitter admired Keilar’s savage response, which sent users into a tweeting frenzy.

Morgan has since hit back at Kielar on Twitter by saying, ‘she loves ‘virtue-signalling’. He suggested that the host should ask her husband what he thinks.
