Popular Fortnite gamer RaulZito ‘raped kids he lured on livestream’ after boasted of playing with ‘young talents’
A POPULAR Fortnite gamer has been arrested for allegedly raping two children he lured using his live stream.
Brazilian Raulino de Oliveira Maciel, who goes by the name RaulZito and has a huge following, boasted of playing with "young talents".
He used his social media channels to live-stream himself playing Fortnite, an online video game released in 2017 that boasted 80 million active monthly users last year.
Cops in Brazil say he used his prominence in the gaming world to abuse children.
Child protection officers detained him on Tuesday in the Florianópolis, in the state of Santa Catarina, police said.
In a statement, they said the mother of a boy alleged her son was abused between February and May this this year.
Another child, under 12 years old also reported being abused, said police, though they didn’t reveal their gender.
The victims are aged between 10 and 14, are child theatre, film and TV actors, say cops.
RAPE ALLEGATIONS
They allege that he promised them access to jobs in the gaming world and could even get them work in TV.
The alleged rapes took place in Niteroi, in the Rio de Janeiro region, and in the municipality of Sao Caetano do Sul, in Sao Paulo.
It is suspected the gamer had other underage victims, local media reports.
On the description of his YouTube channel, Maciel writes that he plays alongside "young talents".
Maciel boasts 207,000 followers on Instagram, 118,000 followers on Twitch, and has a YouTube channel with 144,000 subscribers.
He used his experience and prowess to start a consultancy for young gamers ostensibly to finding and train new talent in the gaming universe.
The banner of his YouTube channel shows a cartoon of him with his distinctive dyed blue hair and a pink beard, smiling alongside a group of children.
He coloured his beard to commemorate his 50,000th subscriber and he dyed the hair on his head when he reached the 100,000 mark.
His team since last year, SBT Games, dropped him on the day of his arrest, writing in a statement that it "is awaiting clarification of the facts and the result of the investigation".
It was not reported if the suspect remains remanded custody.
