Simone Biles' Boyfriend Jonathan Owens & Biological Mother Shanon Show Their Support After She Withdraws From The Olympics To Focus On Mental Health

After Simone Biles withdrew from the women’s gymnastics team final in Japan to take care of her mental health, her boyfriend and biological mother are showing their support for the 24-year-old athlete.

Shanon Biles a native of Columbus, Ohio — spoke with Daily Mail, and said that no matter what happens next, her daughter is "gonna be okay."

The decorated athlete, along with her three other siblings, were put into foster care at a young age as Shanon battled a drug addiction. (Shanon is now sober.) Simone was raised by her grandfather Ron Biles and his second wife Nellie Cayetano in the suburbs of Houston, Texas.

Shanon isn't the only source of support Simone has gotten since her shocking decision to depart the Olympic games. The star's boyfriend Jonathan Owens took to Instagram to share his admiration for his girl.

The NFL star commented on Tuesday, July 27, “I’m so proud of y’all,” under a picture Biles had posted showing her with teammates Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Grace McCallum.

In the post, the World Championship medalist wrote, “OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALISTS I’m SO proud of these girls right here. You girls are incredibly brave & talented! I’ll forever be inspired by your determination to not give up and to fight through adversity! They stepped up when I couldn’t. thanks for being there for me and having my back! forever love y’all.”

As OK! previously reported, Biles exited the women’s Olympic gymnastics team finals on Tuesday, stating, “There’s more to life than just gymnastics.”

After a rough go at the vault — only scoring a 13.766 which is the lowest score in her career — the star explained that she needed to “focus on my well-being” and her mental health.

She went on to say, “It is very unfortunate that it has to happen at this stage because I definitely wanted this Olympics to go a little bit better but again, we’ll take it one day at a time,and we’re going to see how the rest goes."
