A living legend.
While he hasn’t really been able to perform much since he suffered a stroke and subsequently underwent brain surgery back in 2013, every now and then he teams up with a fellow artist to sing different parts of some of his biggest hits.
And last night, he did it again in a huge way in a surprise appearance at the historic Ryman Auditorium to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nashville live music staple Whiskey Jam.
He took the stage with Whiskey Jam founder Ward Guenther, as well as artists Jimmie Allen, Travis Denning, Lindsay Ell, Tyler Reeve, Cole Swindell and more to sing his absolutely iconic #1 hit “Forever And Ever, Amen”.
They let Randy and his wife, Mary, take center stage as the entire crowd went wild and sang along with every line.
Randy closed the performance out by singing the last “Amen” of the song, and just about blew the roof off the place.
It’s was a really beautiful moment, and it’s pretty amazing to see such an iconic figure in the genre get up on stage and bring the house down, especially considering everything he’s been through over the last eight years or so.
