COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County prosecutors have filed three felony charges against a second man accused in a July 14 shooting that damaged vehicles and a home.

D'Nozea Spain, 20, of Charlotte, N.C., was charged Saturday with shooting at or from a vehicle or home, armed criminal action and felony drug possession in connection with the shooting on Rice Road in northeast Columbia. Police reported no injuries in the incident.

Last week Channing T. Williams, 27, was charged with shooting at a person, vehicle or home, armed criminal action and illegal gun possession.

Investigators said in a probable cause statement that Williams told them Spain was with him in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. Williams told police someone shot at his vehicle and he returned fire, but he did not say Spain was armed, the statement says.

Police said damage on Williams' vehicle indicates someone in the passenger seat fired from the vehicle. Investigators later found at the apartment where they arrested Spain a .40-caliber handgun and ammunition that matched spent casings found at the shooting scene, according to the statement.

Spain told police he was in North Carolina at the time of the shooting, but the statement says cellphone ping data showed his cellphone was in Columbia at the time.

Spain was also charged in January with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action in Cole County. In May, his probation for tampering with electronic monitoring equipment in a separate Boone County case was suspended, according to online court records.

He was in the Boone County Jail on Monday without bond. No lawyer was listed for Spain in online court records.
