Xiao Qiumei, 23, fell to her death from a crane in China

A Chinese TikTok star filmed herself falling 160ft to her death from a crane, reports say.

Xiao Qiumei, 23, missed a step and fell after finishing a shift operating a crane near her home in the city of Quzhou in western China's Zhejiang Province, her family said.

The mum-of-two was reportedly filming herself chatting when the tragedy happened and footage from her phone apparently shows it falling to the ground.

Her family deny she would have recorded herself during work hours but witnesses claim she plummeted to her death with her phone in her hand, the Daily Star reports.

The mum-of-two had built up a massive online following of 100,000 people who enjoyed an insight into her life working at the helm of a huge crane.

Qiumei's loved ones claim she was a professional on the job and would have left her mobile phone tucked away in her bag during working hours.

Her family however did confirm Qiumei died by falling as she finished a shift operating the crane at around 5.40pm on Tuesday.

They explained that she simply missed a step and fell as a result.

A funeral for the mother has already been held as has a cremation in accordance to local customs.

Qiumei's ashes have been placed on a small table under an umbrella.

It comes after TikTok star Rochelle Hager died aged 31 in a 'freak driving accident' in March.

Rochelle, who was known to fans under username @roeurboat3, was killed after a tree fell on top of the roof of her car as she drove through winds reaching 50mph.

In a press release obtained by E! News, Farmington Police Chief Kenneth Charles reported that high winds toppled the limb of a pine tree onto the roof of the 2015 Nissan Rogue Rochelle was driving.

"There was nothing she could do to avoid it," added Charles.

Authorities described the incident as "tragic and unique" and confirmed Rochelle was killed instantly.

Rochelle had amassed a following of 123,000 on TikTok and racked up more than 1.2million likes for her video content.

Her partner and fellow TikTok star Brittanie Lynn paid a heartfelt tribute after the tragic news was confirmed.

"I can't eat or sleep," Brittanie wrote. "All I can do is make videos and wish you were here with me #rip #myangel."

Brittanie then made the decision to visit the crash site where she filmed herself mourning Britannie and revealed they were engaged to be married.

"Thank you all so much for keeping her memory alive and reaching out," Britannie told followers.

Then speaking to Rochelle, Brittannie added: "Thank you for showing me what true love is. I love you forever."

The two were planning to get married this October with heartbroken Brittannie leaving one of their invites at the scene of her partner's fatal car accident.

Apparently there is no IQ test required to be a Tiktok "star".
