Waterbury police identify homicide victim in shooting that injured three Saturday

Waterbury police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that injured two and killed one Saturday.

The shooting occurred around 8:15 p.m., near East Farm Street, police said. Upon arrival to the scene, responding officers found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds on the roadway.

“One party was observed to have a gunshot wound to the shoulder / chest area, while the second party sustained a gunshot wound to the leg,” police said.

The man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, later identified as 37-year-old Douglas Daniels, of New Haven, succumbed to his injuries at a St. Mary’s Hospital.

A third victim also arrived to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

“This victim continues to be treated for their injury,” police said. “All victims appeared to have sustained their injuries from the shooting incident that occurred on East Farm Street.”

The investigation remains ongoing. Police said there is “no further information on suspects or motives involving this incident are available at this time.”
