Julio Jones, not A.J. Brown, gets top 10 WR rating in Madden NFL 22

It’s that time of year again where we all get irrationally worked up about the ratings for players in the latest installment of the wildly-popular “Madden NFL” video game franchise.

“Madden NFL 22” will be released on Aug. 20, but in the meantime initial player ratings are trickling out, position-by-position.

On Monday morning, the top 10 ratings for the wide receiver position were revealed on ESPN, and new Tennessee Titans wide receiver Julio Jones has the fifth-highest with a 95.

However, there is one notable omission from the top 10, as Jones’ teammate, A.J. Brown, whose rating has yet to be released, did not make it. Check out the full list below:

Can we make a case for Brown being rated higher than, say, a Keenan Allen or Amari Cooper? You bet.

Brown had more receiving yards and touchdowns than Allen last season, and he fell just 39 yards short of Cooper’s mark and had six more touchdowns despite playing in two less games.

Granted, Cooper had to deal with incredibly shoddy quarterback play, but Brown was also playing on two bad knees. Of this trio, Brown and Allen were the only ones to make the Pro Bowl.

During an offseason in which people are doubting Jones’ ability to maintain the elite level of play he has during his career, it’s nice to see the game give him some respect; although his rating is two points lower than it was last year.

Whatever the case may be, Madden NFL 22 will update their ratings as the season progresses, so it’s possible the ratings for Jones and Brown could move up or down as the 2021 campaign goes.
