Vaccine orders in Missouri nearly tripled in one week

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

In just one week, the number of vaccines ordered in Missouri increased by 14,350. This is the biggest jump seen in nearly two months.

For the week of May 31, Missouri ordered just 1,670 doses of the vaccine, then for the week of June 7, vaccine orders increased slightly to 7,540. In the middle of June, the number of orders fell once again, to 1,900 for the week of June 14 and 1,640 for June 21.

Fast forward to July 12, when the number of vaccines ordered hit 7,200, and just one week later orders jumped all the way to 21,550 on July 19.

Gov. Mike Parson announced the statewide vaccine incentive program on July 21, and since then there has been a slight increase in the seven-day average for vaccinations in Missouri.

According to the vaccine dashboard, 47.1% of Missourians have had at least one dose of the vaccine, and nearly 41% have completed vaccination.

The first drawing for the vaccine incentive program will be on August 13, and drawings will occur every two weeks with the final drawing scheduled for October 8.
