One Dead In Sarasota Shooting, Suspect Sought By Deputies

SARASOTA, FL. – One man is dead after a shooting that happened around 4:00 pm on Sunday in Sarasota.

According to Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 3250 Desoto Road. 

Witnesses told investigators that they saw a suspect in a confrontation with the victim in front of the location.

During the confrontation, the suspect shot the victim and fled the scene eastbound on Desoto Road. 

The victim died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

The suspect is described as an unknown age white or Hispanic male.  He was last seen wearing a white tank top.  He was seen leaving the area in a grey or silver sedan with another unknown male.

“At this time this is an isolated incident and there is no continued threat to the public,” said Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office in a statement.

Detectives responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.
