White Sox star Eloy Jimenez to make 2021 season debut Monday against Royals

The Chicago White Sox lineup is about to receive a significant boost.

Manager Tony La Russa announced that outfielder Eloy Jimenez will be activated from the injured list and make his 2021 season debut Monday against the Kansas City Royals, according to The Athletic's James Fegan.

Jimenez missed the first four months of the season after rupturing his pectoral tendon during spring training.

The 24-year-old had a monster season for the White Sox in 2020, hitting .296/.332/.559 with 14 home runs and 41 RBI in 55 games, earning his first Silver Slugger award.

While Jimenez is set to return, the White Sox are still without Nick Madrigal, Luis Robert, Jake Lamb, Yasmani Grandal and Evan Marshall due to injury.

Despite the team's injury struggles, Chicago is first in the AL Central with a 58-40 record, holding an 8.5 game lead over the second-place Cleveland Indians.
