The Miami Hurricanes were Daughtry Richardson’s last official visit of his recruitment, but the trip wasn’t enough to land his commitment.

Richardson committed to Florida State on Sunday afternoon, announcing his decision on Instagram.

Richardson, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound offensive tackle out of Miami Central, chose the Seminoles over Miami and several other schools, including Arizona State, Kentucky and Missouri.

He took an official visit with Miami during the last weekend of June after visiting Kentucky, Florida State and Arizona State the previous three weekends after the NCAA ended the recruiting dead period on June 1.

Both Rivals and 247Sports projected Richardson to commit to Florida State.

He grew up in Tallahassee before moving to Miami, playing at Miami Edison during his junior season before moving to Miami Central for his senior season.

247Sports lists Richardson as the No. 44 offensive prospect in the nation and the No. 59 high school player in the state.

The Hurricanes have six commitments for their 2022 class:

— Four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown (Valdosta, Ga.);

— Three-star offensive tackle Falentha Carswell (Sandersville, Ga.);

— Four-star athlete Chris Graves (Fort Myers);

— Three-star wide receiver Landon Ibieta (Mandeville, La.)

— Three-star linebacker Justin Medlock (Manvel, Texas)

— Four-star cornerback Khamauri Rogers (Lexington, Miss.).

Two prospects on Miami’s radar are expected to announce their commitments within the next week.

Four-star wide receiver Isaiah Horton out of Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn. is expected to announce his decision by the end of the month while three-star cornerback Nick Cull out of Seminole County in Donalsonville, Ga. will announce his decision on July 30.

Horton has had Miami, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee as his four finalists since February. He took his only official visit in June to Miami, but had two unofficial visits at Tennessee last month while also making unofficial visits at Florida and Alabama. Unofficial visits are paid for entirely by the student-athlete and their family.

Cull had an official visit with Miami in mid-June after going South Carolina the previous week. He also had unofficial visits to Florida, Alabama and Ole Miss in June.

247Sports and Rivals are projecting for both Horton and Cull to commit to the Hurricanes.
