The Chicago Bears are trading wide receiver Anthony Miller to the Houston Texans, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.
The trade doesn’t come as too much of a surprise following reports of the Bears shopping Miller this offseason, following a disappointing 2020 season and his ejection from the wild-card playoffs against the New Orleans Saints.
The Bears have made plenty of changes at the wide receiver position this offseason, including the additions of veterans Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd and rookie Dazz Newsome.
As you can imagine, Twitter had plenty of reactions to Miller being traded to the Texans. A lot of it wasn’t surprise given Miller never really lived up to the hype in Chicago.
Good on the #Bears for finding draft capital for Anthony Miller instead of letting him walk after the year.
A late-round swap is solid value for Miller given his inconsistencies. Interested in seeing who takes his starting role in the slot.

I had such high expectations for Miller coming out of Memphis. Hope a change of scenery sparks his career back into an upward trajectory. #Bears https://t.co/ZOa8tPWXbz

Oh god they really banished him to the shadow realm 🥺 https://t.co/BgNBzg1MzD

The ultimate punishment in the NFL in 2021
Miller is a good slot receiver, can get open with ease. Makes Randall Cobb pretty redundant, but Texans get a look at a young player one year before free agency
Day 3 pick swap pretty much expected
Foresee a lot of Tarik Cohen in slot https://t.co/sZQBlMU8T0

Long time coming. Potential exceeded production because he became the opposite of dependable. Hard to miss what you never had; change of scenery might benefit Miller, who wore the Bears’ patience too thin. https://t.co/hzKUAvGJvp

If true, this makes a LOT of sense. Miller could shine with a change of scenery and the Bears can move on to some new blood and potential draft capital. https://t.co/65HkkSyLWp

Hope you were already on the Mooney bandwagon bc it's about to be overflowing https://t.co/JtabyogOFh

Miller finally got a QB and then they sent him to a defunct franchise smh https://t.co/pFvUByv06r

This makes sense considering the Bears roster is loaded with receivers:
A-Rob
Mooney
Dazz Newsome
Justin Fields https://t.co/F5jpzuYRRs— sports are over (@drone_jock) July 25, 2021
Hugely disappointing that it didn’t work out. Guy has insane talent. https://t.co/0zigxA08EM

My one word summary of Miller's time in Chicago: inconsistency.
He signed his trading papers when he took the bait from CGJ in the playoff game.#bears https://t.co/Bvf1Yx5BOj— JB (@gridironborn) July 25, 2021
Didn't think it was ever go na happen. Unfortunate too, I had high hopes for that guy https://t.co/jvx5QHClIs

Miller needed a fresh start and I’m glad he’s getting it. He’s a guy I’ll root for. https://t.co/E4HWBtJKx1

Oh wow. Thought with Fields coming in here he could bounce back but I guess we won't see. https://t.co/FobtA2s6eC

Anthony Miller never lived up to expectations and he punched an opponent during a playoff game. That is not a guy you want on your team. Good move! #Bears https://t.co/MABbE4Oct1

Houston is not where you go for a fresh start https://t.co/LP7kHTFAgq
