A ‘bag of air’ from Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ album launch party is being auctioned online for £2,400 – really

An alleged bag of air from Kanye West’s listening party for his 10th studio album, ‘Donda’, is selling online for $3,333 (£2,424), and fans are confused.

On Thursday, the ‘Stronger’ rapper took to the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta to promote the upcoming record, which was rumoured for release on Friday but still has yet to drop.

More than 40,000 lucky fans attended to listen to the entirety album, which is named after West’s beloved mother who died in November 2007. It was also livestreamed on Apple Music.

The musician’s ex, Kim Kardashian, also showed up to support the star, who barely said a word as the album blasted throw speakers in the venue.

The hype prompted some eBay users to try to try to capitalise on the event – we’re used to seeing merchandise or maybe a celebrity’s discarded item being flogged online, but a bag of oxygen, really?

A number of alleged attendees from the big night have listed “bags of air” on the auction platform, with starting bids ranging from $100 (£72. 72) to $3,200 (£2,327.02) as of Saturday morning UK time.

The latter also offers the option of “buying it now” for a cool $4,400 (£3,199.65) – that’s for anyone who can’t wait to get their hands on some hot air.

A screen grab has also been widely shared on social media of a listing starting at $3,333.33, with hopefuls given until next Wednesday at 11:15pm (BST) to place their bids.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, not a single offer had been made on any of the options at time of writing, and Yeezy listeners have instead taken to Twitter to express their confusion and joke about the bizarre auction:

Others were more concerned with the fact that there was a $4 shipping fee than the much larger $3,333 figure:

And the air isn’t the only thing which is being criticised for its price, with a photo of the food menu going viral on Friday.

The list of food available at the event reportedly included $50 chicken tenders, $45 cookies and brownies, and $40 hot dogs or ‘franks’.

It’s fair to say that people weren’t impressed by the “expensive” prices:

As for Donda’s release date, it’s been reported that it has now been pushed back to 6 August.
