Here’s what’s happening in the world of San Diego music this week:

Karl Denson’s return

Had all gone as planned, award-winning San Diego saxophonist Karl Denson would have spent last May, June and July performing with the Rolling Stones, whose 2020 “No Filter” tour was set to open here at the now-defunct SDCCU Stadium. The coronavirus pandemic led to the shelving of that tour — and to nearly all of Denson’s 2020 gigs with his propulsive funk-jazz band, Tiny Universe. He’ll make up for lost time Saturday and Sunday when he and his group perform back-to-back concerts at their favorite hometown venue. The Sunday show will also be livestreamed for those who can’t attend in person. 9 p.m. Saturday (sold out) and 8 p.m. Sunday. Belly Up Tavern, 143 South Cedros Ave., Solana Beach. $30 (general admission), $53 (reserved loft seating), plus service charge; must be 21 or older to attend. (858) 481-8140; bellyup.com. Livestream tickets for Sunday’s concert are $10 in advance and $15 day of show at fly.live/karldenson

Leonard Patton’s Jazz Grooves

San Diego vocal ace Leonard Patton is singing a happy new tune. On July 1, he launched the Jazz Lounge, an inviting new jazz supper club in between San Diego State University and La Mesa. He performs a dinner concert tonight with bassist Mackenzie Leighton and pianist Jarel Paguio; the cuisine is provided by nearby Terra American Bistro. 6:30 p.m. today. The Jazz Lounge, 6818 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego. $60 (includes dinner); no tickets are sold at the door. thejazzlounge.live

Paul Oakenfold, with blklght

Superstar London trance-music DJ Paul Oakenfold is big on pounding beats, spare synthesizer melodies, swelling electronic string accents and high-tech sonic atmosphere. He’s also big on performing at eye-popping locations, as evidenced by his gigs on the Great Wall of China, in front of Stonehenge, in an Argentinian rainforest, and at Mount Everest’s base camp, 16,000 feet above sea level. The 57-year-old DJ’s San Diego tour date will be at a much lower altitude. 10 p.m. today. The Music Box, 1337 India Street, downtown. $42 (general admission), $52 (includes 8 pm. pre-show tequila tasting and meet-and-greet with Oakenfold). 619-795-1337; musicboxsd.com

Hank Easton at Humphreys

It’s been 37 years since this local guitar mainstay released his 1990 debut solo album, “San Diego Sunset,” and more than a decade since he began leading the note-perfect Steely Dan tribute band, Steely Damned 2. 6 p.m. Wednesday. Humphreys Backstage Live, 2241 Shelter Island Drive, Shelter Island. $6. (619) 224-2577; humphreysbackstagelive.com
