(AUSTIN, Texas) Central Texas features high temperatures along with high humidity; the Austin Zoo has found ways to keep the animals cool.
Zookeepers say there are plenty of resources for the animals including pools, misters, fans and shaded or temperature-controlled areas in their enclosures, according to KXAN.
Some animals get frozen treats which can be fruit or juice. Or in the case of tigers, frozen blood and meat.
While most of the birds are adapted to tropical areas, zookeepers will sometimes "shower" the birds with hoses.
Zoo officials note that most animals are more active in the early mornings or evenings when the day is cooler.
