Taking to Facebook, she said: “Today I had a little cry while walking around home bargains. Not something I normally do in public, let alone in a shop.

“But a lovely elderly couple saw my 10 month old boy and passed him a £1 coin (well me) while I was looking at birthday decorations for my eldest son's birthday.

“Lucas gave them the biggest smile and chatted to them. It made their day, and ours.

“For a second I nearly stopped them, thinking about covid etc but couldn’t let that ruin a lovely sentiment.

“It’s the little things that we all forgot about during the last 18 months and this truly made my day and now brings a massive smile to my face every time I think about it.”

After sharing the sweet story on Facebook, it has racked up nearly 4,000 likes.

One person said: “Beautiful gesture from you and the elderly couple.”

Another added: “This is a lovely post. We have all become too sensitive ..we forget that older people, have missed family interaction.”
