Man wanted in Pittsburgh and Ohio on gun, traffic charges arrested by Allegheny County deputies

MUNHALL, Pa. — A man wanted on gun and traffic charges in Pittsburgh and Columbiana, Ohio was arrested by Allegheny County sheriff’s deputies after a traffic stop Thursday.

According to deputies, Bryant Richard Rather, 36, from the Hill District, was identified along Whitaker Way in Munhall Thursday morning. He was previously known to police and was charged with false identification to law enforcement.

Deputies made a traffic stop and asked Rather to get out of the vehicle. He told them he had a gun in a shoulder bag he was wearing.

Rather was wanted out of Ohio since February 2018 for failure to appear on a charge of improperly handling of a gun in a motor vehicle. He was wanted in Pittsburgh since January 2019 on the charges of accident involving death/injury, DUI and other traffic violations.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a backpack with three lookalike firearms, one loaded with a magazine of bullets. They were all taken as evidence.
