Jack Wilshere hits out at Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta for underusing Gabriel Martinelli and tips Brazilian for big season
JACK WILSHERE is 'surprised' that Gabriel Martinelli didn't get more game time at Arsenal last season.
The Brazilian started just seven Premier League matches during the 2020-21 campaign, although was missing until December with a knee injury,.
Wilshere, however, feels that boss Mikel Arteta could have turned to the Brazilian more.
He told Highbury Squad: "I was surprised at times when Arsenal needed a goal, they needed something and he wasn’t thrown on.
"He is that type of player who can do that. He arrives in the box.
"He always seems to be in the right place, at the right time. You cannot teach them things.
"I feel he will only get better with experience of playing in the big games.
"I do think he is a player who will thrive off having the fans back.
"I remember the game at Chelsea when he scored that goal. He just got better and better as the game went on and the fans got behind him.
"I am excited to see more of him."

Martinelli, 20, had impressed in his first season, scoring ten goals as a teenager after arriving from Brazil in 2019.
But he was a bit-part player at best last time around, playing under 800 minutes in all competitions all season.
He scored just twice, notching against Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.
