Britney Spears' boyfriend jokes they've been 'hitched for years' amid engagement rumours
Photos of Britney Spears wearing what looked to be an engagement ring sent her fans into a frenzy earlier in the week.
And now, the singer's long-term boyfriend, Sam Asghari, has thrown further rumours into the mill by saying the pair have been "hitched for years".
The 27-year-old actor was being showered with well-wishes by a reporter on Wednesday in regards to the engagement rumours.
But Sam threw jokes back in the reporter's direction as he jibed that the pair were actually already married.
He said: "People don't know but we've been married for about five years. We secretly got married in Hawaii."
He followed up his comments by admitting that this story isn't one he personally knows but one he has seen in the press.
With a smile on his face, he left the reporter by joking: "And, yeah, we have twins. Peace."
Sam was talking from a Jeep car dealership - just a few days after admitting he was at fault when he crashed his vehicle.
The star took to Instagram on Tuesday to tell his followers that he'd crashed his Jeep less than two weeks after getting it.
Thankfully, no-one involved in the incident was hurt and Sam said: "When situations like this happen guys, always think of it as if it's preventing the bigger bad thing from happening.
"Always think of the positive thing and just enjoy life. As long as you're okay and everything and the other person is okay then everything else is fine. You don't need to ruin your day about it."
The actor has been a huge supporter of the FreeBritney campaign in recent months.
He has been in a relationship with the Toxic singer, 39, since 2016 and it was claimed last month that he is serious about the star and is "ready for marriage and kids".
In Britney's court case to try to end her conservatorship last month, the singer claimed that she's unable to fulfil her dream of getting married and having children as she's been put on contraception by her 'team'.
She spoke directly to Superior Judge Brenda Penny about her life under the restrictions of the conservatorship, which have seen tight controls put over her finances and affairs since 2008.
The star is hopeful that her new lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, will be able to rid her dad Jamie, 69, from the conservatorship - something Mathew vowed his team will move "aggressively" to do.
