Laign and Roberts have been together since meeting via mutual friends in 2005.

The broadcast star was featured on the cover of People Magazine in June 2022 for their annual Pride Month issue.

Roberts penned an essay for the magazine, recalling when she decided to reveal her love life to the public.

Roberts explained her social media post expressing gratitude for those who supported them during Amber's breast cancer battle.

"I didn't come out necessarily for me. I did it because I love Amber. I was just thanking everybody. I did it via a simple social media post where I thanked my doctors and my parents," she wrote.

"But then, was I not going to thank this woman who had been by me through this illness?"

She said she was scared of coming out but realized her story could help others.

"Then I realized, if somebody who looks like me was to come along, maybe I could give them a little more courage.

"Maybe they would know they were not walking alone," Roberts told People.
