Bills quarterback Josh Allen getting a long-term extension from the team has been the talk of the offseason.
All things considered, it seems like it’s only a matter of time. Allen himself has said he wants to stay in Buffalo while Bills general manager Brandon Beane has also expressed a desire to get a deal done multiple times. Sometimes, things just take time.
However, that brings up Bleacher Report. B/R picked six players in the NFL that might holdout in training camp this summer. Allen was listed.
From 1-10, with 10 being the best chance of it happening, Allen’s possibility of holding out was set at four. Before our analysis, here’s why B/R thinks Allen holding out is a possibility:

The Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen seems like he’ll be the next big quarterback-extension domino to fall after a borderline MVP season in which he completed 69.2 percent of his passes with 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions en route to the AFC title game.
Still, a holdout is realistic because he’s a star quarterback who can afford, over the long-term, the cost of such a move. He’ll also ruin his team’s plans if he’s not in camps.
All Allen has to do is point toward names such as Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson getting extensions before their fourth years for justification, especially after his epic campaign. That and the small $6.9 million cap hit he has in 2021.
Not that there has been anything to suggest the Bills will have a problem extending Allen. But his applying a little pressure to a team that has made smart move after smart move around him already (think, Stefon Diggs) wouldn’t be the worst idea.
Allen holding out actually might be the worst idea, despite B/R’s analysis. Allen wants to get an extension done, as does the team. Again, it seems only like a matter of time.
That contract for the QB might be a once in the lifetime deal for him. So might his chance at making it to the Super Bowl this upcoming season.
Allen will not be holding out at all because of that. His true holdout meter is zero because the Bills have that chance, and not only that… he’s already going to get a big pay day in 2022, anyways. The fifth-year option on his rookie deal which was already picked up by the team comes with a pay bump next year. Up to near $23 million.
Once more, Allen’s holdout meter is truly at zero.
