Kingsley Coman Was Never A Target For Liverpool
Liverpool have been linked with a lot of players this summer and one name that popped up in June was Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman.
The French wingers contract is set to expire in 2023 with the German club and with Liverpool in the market for a wide player this summer, Kingsley Coman eventually got linked with The Reds.
There were also reports that Liverpool made a £30million bid for Coman but this was heavily denied by English journalists.
Some French Journalists did say that Bayern were willing to sell for €90million though, a crazy price tag for a fairly injury prone player.
Despite all the apparent interest in Coman, Liverpool's interest has come to a complete standstill and there has been no recent reports stating that they are going to go back in for him either.
More recently, Bayern's CEO, Oliver Kahn has admitted they are in contract talks with Coman and his team.
"We're in talks with Goretzka and Coman. Absolute top players want to be paid accordingly, we're not naive about that. That's perfectly fine. With us, there is a limit, which is very clearly defined." said Kahn.
"We are in very, very good talks with both players. I am optimistic. We have a great package to offer here."
This direct admission from the club seemed to put the final nail in the coffin regarding Liverpool's interest in Coman.
However, James Pearce of The Athletic decided to add a few more nails into that coffin when he recently said that Liverpool were never even interested in Kingsley Coman.
It seems hard to believe that Coman was 'never a target' with all of the reports coming out. Yes it could've been agent talk but maybe Liverpool were just testing the waters.
