‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Pens Emotional Tribute To Biz Markie: ‘World Lost a Really Special Talent’

Since news of his death broke on Friday, July 16, countless tributes to popular rapper Biz Markie have poured in from pretty much everywhere. The rapper, who was 57 at the time of his death, had numerous fans – including many celebrities. One of those celebrities is “Blue Bloods” and New Kids on the Block star Donnie Wahlberg.

Wahlberg took to social media to share his thoughts about his late friend. In his emotional tribute post, the “Blue Bloods” star talked about Markie’s personal qualities, in addition to his skills with a microphone.

“Rest in Paradise #BizMarkie!” Donnie Wahlberg posted on Instagram. “Not sure I ever met a more giving person in my entire career in music. Giving of kindness, spirit, energy, love, love of music and giving of his amazing gift of spreading joy.”

‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Met Biz Markie More Than 30 Years Ago

The “Blue Bloods” star and Biz Markie met more than 30 years ago. And in his Instagram post, Wahlberg recounted how the late hip hop star got him and others to perform for fans from a hotel balcony.

“From the day I met him in DC in 1989, when he encouraged me to throw an impromptu hip hop concert on my hotel balcony for the thousands of @nkotb fans we heard screaming outside of my window ten stories down …” the “Blue Bloods” star also shared.

Wahlberg also recalled memories of a more recent time when he shared a stage with Biz Markie.

” … to the time he rocked the stage with me and the New Kids in 2015 (in front of many of those same fans who are now all grown up) — he was always gracious, humble, generous and ready to share his magic,” Wahlberg said.

The “Blue Bloods” star ended his post with more very moving and poignant words about the impact Biz Markie had on him – and others.

“The world lost a really special talent. I am so blessed to have shared some very special moments in his light. Thank you @officialbizmarkie! For everything. Godspeed,” Donnie Wahlberg said.”

Biz Markie reportedly passed away due to complications from diabetes.

Other Celebrities React to Biz Markie’s Death

“Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg definitely isn’t the only celebrity fan of Biz Markie’s. And, he is definitely not the only one who is mourning the music legend. This list includes LL Cool J and Ice-T.

“I just want to say… Rest in power, Biz Mark, my friend. We have so many memories, man. He was in the basement of my grandmother’s house when I wrote ‘Rock the Bells,'”LL Cool J shared.

“My close friend Biz Markie… Is gone at 57…” Ice-T said. “We shared a tour bus our very 1st tour ‘The Dope Jam Tour’ @LegendaryCOOLV , TJSwan… We were all so young and hype.”
