The Frenchman put pen to paper on his contract to move to the San Siro on Saturday

The announcement came after Giroud completed his medical at Milan's La Madonnina clinic on Friday morning.

Following his medical at approximately 7am, the striker took to Twitter to thank Chelsea for the 'special moments' he experienced at the club and express his excitement over his 'new journey'.

'To all the Blues, to my team-mates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments,' he wrote.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Giroud contributed 39 goals and helped the club win three major trophies - with his most recent being the Champions League in May against Man City

'I'm starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League have been magnificent.'

Giroud joined Chelsea in January 2018 from Arsenal for £18m. The move came six years after he moved to the Premier League from Montpellier for £10.8m.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Giroud has contributed 39 goals and helped the club win three major trophies - with his most recent being the Champions League in May.

Milan boss Stefano Pioli is hopeful the French striker can play a key role in winning trophies

Giroud was also a member of the France side at Euro 2020 who suffered an early exit at the hands of Switzerland during a penalty shootout.

However, the striker did win the 2018 World Cup with the French national side in Russia.

Now Giroud will look to excel in the Italian top-flight and help AC Milan secure a place in the Champions League following a seven-year absence.
