Striker Dane Scarlett saw his opener cancelled out by Ruel Sotiriou as Tottenham kicked off their pre-season campaign by drawing to League Two Leyton Orient.
The visitors' starting line-up contained seven recognised senior players: Joe Hart, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn.
Midfielder Nile John was one of four teenagers picked by Nuno Espirito Santo for his first match in chance, with the 18-year-old latching onto Winks' pass over the top and flicking the ball inside Orient left back Connor Wood before firing straight at goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux on nine minutes.

But the deadlock was broken just before the interval when Moura threaded a superb pass through to Scarlett, who let the ball run into the penalty area and composed himself before slotting past Vigouroux and into the far corner.
Half time saw only one change as Hart was replaced by Alfie Whiteman and the 22-year-old was on hand to palm away a fierce free kick from Daniel Kemp just after the hour mark.
Midway through the half, all 10 outfield players were replaced, with the club's youngest-ever scorer Alfie Devine and highly rated forward Troy Parrott among those coming on.
However, it was an Orient substitute, Sotiriou, who had the biggest impact on the rest of the contest, with a fantastic dribble culminating in an curling effort which Whiteman had no chance of stopping.
Spurs youngster Jamie Bowden then had a shot which Vigouroux kept out before 36-year-old Darren Pratley skewed an effort wide for the hosts just before the final whistle sounded.
Tottenham have four more friendlies before their Premier League campaign kicks off on August 15 at home to champions Manchester City.
Nuno's men next travel to Colchester and Milton Keynes Dons on July 21 and July 28 respectively, before stepping up their preparations away to Chelsea on August 4 and at home to north London rivals Arsenal on August 8, with both matches part of The Mind Series to raise money for mental health causes.

The game just petered out in the end, disappointingly.
Result not as important given it's a pre-season game, but Nuno won't have been overly impressed with too many given the standard of opposition...
End-to-end now, with the game really being stretched by constant substitutes and both sides pushing for the winning goal.

For any Spurs fans fuming that your side isn't winning against a League Two side, spare a thought for Wolves supporters.
Bruno Lage's side are now 1-0 down against Crewe thanks to Chris Long's goal.
Cyprus Under-21 international Ruel Sotiriou, just on the pitch as a sub, equalises and it's all his own work.
A poor Spurs pass is intercepted and Sotiriou breaks. There's a super run outside him from Daniel Nkrumah I believe, which takes the defender's attention away.
That time and space is all Sotiriou needs, and he cuts back inside onto his left foot and bends it into the corner, past Alfie Whiteman. And we have parity!
It's 1-1! Tottenham concede! Orient level!
Now into the second half at Crewe - eight changes for Wolves. Jack Scott, Christian Marques, Hugo Bueno, Luke Cundle, Owen Otasowie, Pascal Estrada, Chem Campbell and Renat Dadashov are all introduced to join Ruddy, Kilman and Cutrone.
Brentford are still one up at AFC Wimbledon with an hour gone.

Orient's Dan Kemp wins a free-kick very close in from Harry Winks. He picks himself up, dusts himself off (metaphorically) and slammed it towards goal but it was a good diving save from Alfie Whiteman.

It's now half-time up at Crewe, still 0-0 against Wolves, while AFC Wimbledon v Brentford is into the second half and 1-0 to Thomas Frank's side.
I understand that Nuno is set to change his ENTIRE outfield team shortly, like Sven-Goran Eriksson did once for England against Australia I believe.

Brentford winger Joel Valencia's goal just before the break means the Bees go in at the interval one up.

Anyway, Spurs fans will be enthused by the sight of one academy prospect congratulating another for his goal in a senior match. Nice to see.
Great composure from the 17-year-old for the only goal of the game. Lucas played it through nicely, and he never looked like missing. Confident, composed, and in control.
So the interval arrives, and it's still 1-0 to Spurs thanks to Dane Scarlett.

I understand why teams do it, I do. But it just looks silly, doesn't it?
My mum saw that once and found it absolutely hilarious. And objectively, it is.
Winks with an incisive ball to Lucas, who touched it on to Scarlett first time with a lovely through ball.
From there it was all Scarlett, pace and precision to run onto it and fire low to the goalkeeper's left. Made it look easy!
And that's the opener! Dane Scarlett with it!
Moments after Orient midfielder Hector Kyprianou pulls off a filthy 360 turn in midfield, Spurs win it back and find John.
The 18-year-old smashed it towards goal but Vigouroux got behind it well and pushed it away. Really powerful strike, but the goalie would have been upset to let that in.
Midfielder Nile John, 18, had maybe the clearest opening of the game - he latched onto Harry Winks' through ball, cut inside the defender à la Federico Chiesa v Austria at the Euros.
But from there he could only direct his left-footed effort at the goalkeeper. Good build-up though!
Ooh, another close call. Dele chipped a raking ball over the top and Dane Scarlett (who I hope was named after a Cluedo character) almost got his foot on the ball, but was just unable to make contact and try to chip it over the keeper.

Halfway through the half, we pause for a drinks break in the searing English heat. Not often we say that.
In case you're wondering, Wolves just kicked off against Crewe (0-0) and Brentford are also locked at 0-0 against AFC Wimbledon.
So far Kenny Jackett's fourth-tier side are genuinely holding their own against Spurs.
Nuno's XI have way more possession but aren't doing too much with it, just feeling their way back in slowly. Not sure what else you can expect from the first pre-season game!

And the first real opening of the game arrives! It was a nice lofted ball over the top from Harry Winks, youngster Nile John burst from midfield, flicked it semi-Gazza-style over the defender and shot low with his left foot towards goal - comfortable save for Lawrence Vigouroux, though.
So this is the first game in the dugout for former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
He wasn't first choice by any means... Spurs fans, are you happy to see him at the club?
