Melania Trump’s office says books about her life are ‘idle gossip’

.

Melania Trump’s team issued a rare statement Friday criticizing a flurry of books claiming to have insider information about the former first lady, her family, and former President Donald Trump’s administration.

“How can people believe any of the books discussing Mrs. Trump’s life? Stories about her are idle gossip, many of which are misleading, and only some the truth. Writers have no credibility. Books are fiction, and readers should be cautious about what they choose to believe,” said the Office of Melania Trump in a tweet.

The post did not address any specific books or claims.

But in one recent report, focusing on excerpts from Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Bender’s book, Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost, Trump repeatedly rejected requests to hold an election night party at the White House.

Another claim in the book said the former president used his wife’s phone to avoid the ears of nosy aides.

Donald Trump has repeatedly denigrated books coming out that focus on him and his tenure in the White House, even those he apparently did interviews with.

“It seems to me that meeting with authors of the ridiculous number of books being written about my very successful Administration, or me, is a total waste of time,” the former president said in a recent statement released by his Save America PAC.

“They write whatever they want to write anyway without sources, fact-checking, or asking whether or not an event is true or false. Frankly, so many stories are made-up, or pure fiction,” Donald Trump added. “These writers are often bad people who write whatever comes to their mind or fits their agenda. It has nothing to do with facts or reality. So when reading the garbage that the Fake News Media puts out, please remember this and take everything with a ‘grain of salt.’”
