The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are building quite a bright future for themselves with their 2022 recruiting class, and that continued Thursday when they got a commitment from 4-star cornerback Benjamin Morrison.
In a post on his Twitter account, Morrison, whose father was a four-year NFL veteran, announced his decision to take his talents to South Bend, Indiana:
A product of Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona, Morrison rates as 247Sports’ 31st-best prospect at his position in the 2022 class.
Morrison is the latest high-profile addition to the Irish’s incoming 2022 group, which ranks second in the country only to Ohio State. He’s joining an excellent class, headlined by three of 247Sports’ top 12 linebackers: Jaylen Sneed, Niuafe Tuihalamaka and Joshua Burnham.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly is known for his prowess in the college spread offense, yet he’s obviously not skimping on loading up the defensive side of the ball. That’s where the team needs to continue getting faster and better to keep competing with college football’s elite.
The Irish have produced multiple NFL defensive backs in recent years, such as New York Giants safety Julian Love and Carolina Panthers cornerback Troy Pride Jr. to name a couple. They should have a legitimate first-round NFL Draft prospect in safety Kyle Hamilton this year leading the secondary.

Kelly has to be pleased with the top-flight talent he continues to assemble. Getting such a deep class suggests Kelly isn’t leaving for a new coaching gig any time soon, especially as there’s unfinished business in recent years.
As long as Kelly can keep stacking together strong recruiting hauls, he’ll give the Irish a chance to make the College Football Playoff. They lost in the national semifinals to Alabama this past season, but have finished in the top five nationally three of the last four seasons.
