The New York Yankees put left-handers Nestor Cortes and Wandy Peralta on the COVID-19 injured list Thursday due to health and safety protocols.

The team also reinstated left-hander Zack Britton from the 10-day IL and signed Triple-A outfielder Trey Amburgey to a major league contract, calling him up from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Cortes and Peralta joined fellow pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga on the COVID IL, as the right-handed reliever landed on the list on Saturday.

Cortes, 26, has no decisions and a 1.05 ERA in nine games (two starts) this season. He has struck out 31 and walked 10 batters in 25 2/3 innings.

Peralta, 29, is 1-1 with a 5.19 ERA in 22 relief appearances with New York since being acquired in an April 27 trade with the San Francisco Giants.

Britton, 33, went on the injured list on June 26 with a left hamstring strain. He has a 4.15 ERA and no decisions in five bullpen appearances (4 1/3 innings) this season.

Amburgey, 26, was a 13th-round pick by the Yankees in 2015 and is in line to make his MLB debut. He is batting .312 with seven homers and 35 RBIs in 38 games this season at Triple-A.
