KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV has revealed UFC president Dana White recently offered him a fight with Georges St-Pierre - despite both men being retired.

Nurmagomedov, 32, was desperate to face the former two-division champion before he hung up his gloves last October.

The UFC, however, weren't keen on making the money-spinning match-up due to fears St-Pierre could vacate the lightweight title.

But according to Nurmagomedov, the promotion recently had a change of heart.

The Eagle told MMA Junkie: “[Dana] sent me a message and said, ‘Hey, Georges St-Pierre wants to fight with you.’

“I said, ‘What can I do?’ I don’t know. I’m finished, you know? I think Georges is finished, too, you know.

"Let this guy be a legend. He’s 40 years old and I don’t understand why he has to fight.

"I think he has money, too. I’m finished. I’m really finished.”

Nurmagomedov announced his retirement from mixed martial arts moments after his second-round submission victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.

The Russian retired at the peak of his powers, bringing the curtain down on his hall-of-fame career with a perfect 29-0 record.

He added: “I’m only 32 years old.

“People are going to talk about this [for] maybe the next seven [or] eight years.

"Because for MMA, a lot of guys on the top are 37, 38, 39. They’re still on the top.

"People are going to talk about this until that day comes I think.”

White's numerous efforts to lure Nurmagomedov out of retirement have not once enticed the Dagestani destroyer.

He told ESPN: “(I never contemplated a return after retiring). Dana called this official, but I retired like four, six months ago.

“It’s very funny. Dana told me when he posted that someone commented saying, ‘Hey, he retired not today, he retired about five months ago,’ and I was like it’s funny.

"We had some conversations with Dana a couple of times and like two days ago we meet with him to talk like two real men.

"We had a very good conversation with them, good dinner, and I really appreciated him not only for me, but all the sport."

He added: “It’s very hard when you have power, when you’re the best in the world, when you’re famous, have money and say to everything like this, ‘No.'

"It’s very hard. People maybe will never understand me, but I really hope they’re going to support my decision because everyone has their views.

“My view and my relationship with my mother, I feel like I have to stop because I feel like in every fight, every training camp, this takes some age away from my mother.

"And it’s like what do I have to do? I came to this sport to show who I am and became the best, I’m world champion, and pound-for-pound No. 1. I defended my title three times.

" I defended my title in biggest fight of UFC history. What else? Only money-fights, but I don’t need money.”
