‘NCIS’: How Much Does Gibbs Actor Mark Harmon Make Per Episode?
Mark Harmon has been acting for over 40 years, working in every genre from Westerns to comedies. However, the acting vet will always be known for playing Leroy Jethro Gibbs on “NCIS.” Although rumors continue to be spread that Harmon is leaving the long-running series, he recently signed on to return for the upcoming nineteenth season.
If you don’t know, Mark Harmon’s salary will leave you speechless. Perhaps his decision to stay on was based on his “NCIS” paycheck.
For nearly 20 years, Mark Harmon has led his team as Leroy Gibbs on “NCIS.” While the show has seen cast members come and go, Harmon has remained a tour de force on the long-running CBS crime drama— which begs the question, how much does he earn for the gig?
Since its debut in 2003, Mark Harmon has appeared in 18 seasons of the hit series. Throughout the show’s tenure, dedicated fans have fallen in love with Gibbs and his loyalty to the show.
Additionally, Harmon is one of the last remaining original cast members of “NCIS.” He has also starred in the most episodes out of all of his co-stars. But how does his long-term portrayal of Gibbs stack up in terms of salary?
According to reports, CBS pays Harmon $525,000 per episode of “NCIS.” He earns around $12.6 million in a usual 24-episode season when he’s done shooting.
However, there have been fewer episodes in recent seasons, meaning Harmon would have received slightly less. Additionally, CBS also compensates Harmon for his producer credits and syndication royalties for the show.
His role behind and off the camera means Harmon is likely to earn more than $20 million annually from the show. With this, Harmon is one of the highest-paid actors on TV.
Mark Harmon Brings Home the Bacon From Longtime ‘NCIS’ Gig
In 2018, Forbes released a list of top-earning actors from television. The outlet looked at reports from Nielsen, Box Office Mojo, IMDB, and interviews with industry professionals from June 2017 to June 2018
Per the outlet’s reporting, Harmon had the number five spot with an estimated $19 million earned during the year. The top four included the leading actors in “The Big Bang Theory.” The actors included Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar.
Harmon was the only “NCIS” actor to make Forbes’ top 10 list. Other actors on the list included the stars from “Modern Family” and “The Walking Dead.”
In addition, Harmon’s net worth is estimated to be around $100 million. While he definitely racks in the cheddar, he’s frugal with his spending.
Although in a 2006 interview with Sunset, Harmon opened up about his hobbies: hanging in his 1972 Airstream trailer, carpentry, and rehabbing old homes.
“I got [the trailer] off a horse ranch in Arizona,” he said. “I originally figured I’d just replace the cabinet fronts. But it got more expensive… By film-set standards, the trailer is actually pretty small. But it’s completely practical.”
