A husband and wife have drowned during a fly-fishing trip to Idaho after the husband slipped while crossing a river and his wife tried to save him.
John, 70, and Vickie Fourshee, 69, of southern Kentucky, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past weekend by taking a fly-fishing trip on Idaho's Moyie River.
Witnesses say the couple attempted to cross the river in their fishing waders around 9am Saturday when John slipped and lost his balance, prompting Vickie to rush to his rescue.
Investigators told WKRN that the couple's friends pulled them from the river and tried to revive them. Boundary County EMS director Andrew O'Neel says paramedics also attempted life-saving measures, unfortunately all efforts were unsuccessful.

'It was a lot of people trying to help,' O'Neel told the Couer d'Alene - Post Falls Press. 'Sadly they were not successful.'
The Fourshees were respected members of the community and loved by many.
Vickie, who just retired in 2014, was a beloved instructional assistant at Trigg County Primary School.

'She was loved by all of her students and coworkers. She showed her love and support of her students every single day,' Trigg County Public Schools said in a statement issued to DailyMail.com. 'Our hearts and prayers are with John and Vickie's family during this tragedy.'
The couple, along with John's brothers, were part owners of Fourshee Building Supply.
The company posted a heartfelt tribute on social media saying the community will 'remember John as the HVAC installer and service man.'
The company says John's death is an 'enormous tragedy.' Fourshee Building Supply will be closed for his funeral, and possibly his wake, providing all those who knew the couple with time to mourn.
Calling hours are scheduled for Friday evening Goodwin Funeral Home located in the couple's hometown of Cadiz, Kentucky. Their funeral and burial will take place the next day.
Others who knew the couple have also taken to social media to offer their condolences to the family.
One referred to John as a 'very good man' and another said the entire Fourshee family is comprised of 'great people.'
The couple loved traveling and exploring nature.
One of Vickie's Facebook posts featured a photo of her holding a fish in her bare hand with a caption reading 'retirement wonderful!'
According to their obituary, John and Vickie were 'always in search of a new outdoors adventure.' They particularly loved fishing and canoeing.
The couple leaves behind three children and nine grandchildren.
Their family says the couple loved 'spending time with their children and grandchildren,' noting that they have been left with many 'cherished' memories.
