Josh Primo continues to rise up draft boards ahead of 2021 NBA draft

With just a few weeks remaining until the 2021 NBA draft, mock drafts are heating up and big boards are starting to solidify as teams and front offices are getting a firmer grasp on who they plan to target out of this talented draft class.

One name that has seemingly shot up mock drafts and the big board is Alabama guard Josh Primo.

When Primo announced he was entering the draft alongside Jaden Shackelford and others out of eligibility, most Alabama fans assumed he would return.

While he initially declared for the draft without hiring an agent, in order to keep the option of returning, he recently hired an agent and announced he will keep his name in the NBA draft.

A few months ago, the move would have seemed far-fetched. However, now Primo is set to be a top-20 pick in the draft.

USA TODAY’s Bryan Kalbrosky shared his most recent NBA mock draft, which has Primo being selected at No. 18 to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a pick acquired from the Miami Heat.

“Some of the most common talking points about Joshua Primo are: he is the youngest player in this class, he is an excellent scorer who didn’t really get a chance to show what he could in college, he boasts maturity far beyond his years,” writes Kalbrosky. “That sounds an awful lot like Devin Booker coming out of Kentucky. He also shares an AAU coach with OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, another star from the UPlay Canada pipeline.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Primo through the draft experience, as well as his future NBA career.
