A couple of friends become lost during a bush walk and make the terrifying discovery they've been ambushed by leeches
'I've got like five on me!' Screamed one of the women

Footage shows the petrified women attempting to remove them from each other while one is heard screaming: 'Wait is that a leech?'

'How do you get if off?, do you pull it off?' Asks her friend.

'I don't know!' The panicked woman answers.

'Oh my god they're everywhere,' the friend claims after discovering she's covered in them too.

'I've got like five on me!' She screeches.

The women start running through the bush, with one warning she was about to vomit.

One of the friends is seen struggling to remove the leech from the other woman's leg, screaming as she pulls at the bloodsucker.

The young women's response to the leech attack has caught the attention of Youtubers, with one pointing out in the comments section:

'They're running away but yet the leeches are still attached to them.'

Leeches often attach themselves to warm, moist skin and are attracted to environments with wet grass.

Outdoor Explorer recommends the best treatment for leech bites is prevention, by wearing a long-sleeve shirt and pants, tight socks and insect repellant.

However, if you do find yourself with one attached to your skin, Outdoor Explorer advises the safest way to remove one is to find the mouth of the leech, located at the 'skinny end', place your finger near the mouth while pointing to your skin - the finger nail should be adjacent to its mouth.

Then slide your fingernail towards the leech and push it sideways and flick the leech away from you.
