The COVID-19 pandemic has been a worrisome time for people across the world. If you, or one of your loved ones, were considered to be at-risk during this time, things were even more worrisome. One star of the CBS family drama “Blue Bloods” understands that experience.

That star is Donnie Wahlberg. He plays detective Danny Reagan in the popular series. During a July 2020 interview with TV Insider, he talked about life with his family during the global pandemic. The actor had to be even more careful than most to keep COVID-19 out of his home. This was due to the fact that one of the children he shares with his wife, Jenny McCarthy, was considered at-risk.

“I’ve been at home with my family (during quarantine),” the “Blue Bloods” star said. “Jenny and I have an at-risk child who is immune-compromised, so we’ve had to be really disciplined and safe at home.”

Like many other performers, Donnie Wahlberg’s live performances were canceled due to the pandemic. As fans are aware he is a member of the popular group New Kids on the Block.

“I had a cruise with my band that was canceled — we did a virtual cruise — and we recently canceled our Fenway Park concert,” Wahlberg also said.

Even though he couldn’t see fans face to face, Donnie Wahlberg turned to technology to connect with them.

“I’ve done a couple of hundred Zooms with groups of fans from around the world, including from Germany, Spain, and Argentina,” he said.

The “Blue Bloods” star also said things during quarantine weren’t all bad for him.

“Co-hosting Jenny’s radio with her for over three-and-a-half months and talking to people and experts about what we’ve all been experiencing has been a really positive experience,” he explained.

Donnie Wahlberg Explained How He Balanced His Career and Family Life

Between his role on “Blue Bloods,” his work with his band, and his family, Donnie Wahlberg is a busy man. He has a lot on his plate. But, according to what he said in 2014, he has found a way to keep things balanced.

“I’ve always been able to multitask in my career and make it work with my kids,” Wahlberg told WebMD. “Fortunately, I’m now married to someone who likes to spend as much time with me as I like to spend with her. And we’re both starting to see that it’s less important to fit our relationship into our careers than to fit our careers into our relationship.”

Wahlberg also reflected on his role in “Blue Bloods.” He was asked why he found stories about police officers interesting.

“No idea! My brothers spent their early lives running from the cops. And I got in a lot less trouble than they did,” he shared. “I think it’s because I was smarter. They think it’s because I was less of a risk-taker. But I seem to have an instinct for police work. All the cops we work with on ‘Blue Bloods’ say I would have made a great detective.
